Mother Song

Sound, voice and connection

The Practice

Mother Song is a music-based group practice for mothers and children, centred on voice, sound, listening, rhythm and shared presence. Mother Song is not a music class or a performance space. No musical experience is needed. The focus is on being together, listening, responding and exploring simple ways of connecting through sound and voice.

Sound and music offer direct, embodied ways of relating - often reaching places that words cannot easily access.

Mother Song offers:

  • A gentle, relational space for mothers and children to be together

  • Simple ways of exploring voice, sound, music and listening

  • A shared, embodied experience rather than a structured lesson

  • Time to connect without pressure to perform or achieve

The emphasis is on presence, responsiveness and the experience of making and hearing music together

Who This is For

Mother Song is for:

  • Mothers and young children

  • Families who enjoy experiential, playful and embodied ways of being together

  • Those curious about sound and voice as a way of connecting

  • People who want a gentle, creative group space rather than a class or program.

No singing ability or musical training is required.

The Process

Sessions are simple, welcoming, and lightly guided. They may include listening, gentle singing, rhythm, quiet moments and shared sound-making in a way that feels accessible and contained.

This work is held in a calm, respectiful and non-interventive way. While emotions may be present, the emphasis is on reflection and meaning-making rather than emotional or trauma processing.
